Animal Testing

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend, having that sunshine was definitely a bonus! I am here to write about something very dear to my heart, if you know me you know my love and passion towards animals. I have grown up with animals since I was a very young, I even got my first pony when I was 3. Which is why animal testing is very hard for me to witness, and why I continue to take a stand on this topic. I feel like a lot of us, myself included are unaware of how common this really is throughout the fashion industry in regards to makeup and beauty products. I often research to update my information and I have been shocked as to what I ave found, some of my favourite places to shop or use their soap or makeup have been taken off my shopping list. These are some of the companies who test on animals:

  • Estee Lauder
  • Clinique
  • Victoria Secret
  • Makeup Forever
  • O.P.I
  • Benefit
  • M.A.C

Although there are just a few there are many more companies out there. People are trying to justify why animal testing is okay because "we can't test on humans" however, Peta states that no matter what someone will always be the first to be treated with a new drug, etc. Animal testing is most often done to cats, dogs, rabbits, mice, and rats who are ripped away from their families, stuck in small enclosures, and tortured. Some of the ways they are tortured are:

  • Burned
  • Shocked
  • Poisoned
  • Isolated
  • Starved
  • Addicted to drugs
  • Brain damaged
what can you do?

Even small contributions can lead to huge innovations, here are a few things you can do to help:

  • Always buy cruelty free products
  • Educate others
  • Take action, sign a petition, or write a letter
  • Speak up to fellow colleagues, friends and family to help educate those who are unaware
  • Make a donation
  • Leave your body to science
  • Share PETAs page and stay connected

Thanks for taking the time to read this blog, and remember your help can make all of the difference for these creatures.

My Closet

Good afternoon everyone,  Have you ever passed someone on the street and thought wow I love their top? I am here today to discuss some of my favourite stores, and where I purchase the majority of my clothing. I love dressing both casual and classy but it can be hard to do on a student budget. However there are tons of places that allow you to find that one gorgeous piece to transform your wardrobe. I am lucky that I live in Toronto Ontario where I attend the Fashion Arts and Business program, although I am close enough to downtown I don't venture off campus often. I prefer to stay in the area, and like to spend my Mondays, at either Sherway Gardens or Vaughn Mills.   I am a definite shop-a-holic and have a wide range of stores where I collect my clothing. I hate to admit this but my favourite clothes often come from Urban Planet, I can always find a cute garment for a reasonable price and be able to dress it up with some fancier accessories. In almost every instagr...

My Skincare and Makeup Routine

Good afternoon everyone! Hope you're all enjoying your Monday so far! I decided to dedicate this next blog post to my skincare  regimen and makeup routine. I am really looking forward to spring and summertime so I can get out there and start working on my tan (not, I really don't tan ever) This winter has been extremely tough on my skin, throughout the months my skin has become very dry, and sensitive. I do however have a few tips and tricks I use to keep my skin in the best shape possible like: Drink lots of water  Eat a healthy diet, and try your best to avoid greasy foods Manage stress, this is a huge one for college students but working out can be very beneficial  If possible try and get a facial at the beginning of spring, and winter Try for as much sleep as possible  Also watch the makeup products you're using on your skin, as it can be quite heavy on the skin and make it hard for your pores to breathe. A fun fact about me is I actually don't wea...
